SERVICES

The California Wildlife Foundation manages trusts, endowments, grants and donated funds that provide one-time or perpetual support for approved programs. CWF acts as fiscal agent for special projects and programs, and it accepts tax-deductible contributions to support these activities. CWF assists project managers in raising matching funds from private foundations, corporations and individuals.

Funds Management

CWF manages grant funds, mitigation monies and private donations designated for agency projects, general support and operations and maintenance of state-owned lands. Areas of great need include:

  • Habitat conservation and restoration
  • Wildlife conferences, festivals, tours and special events
  • Wildlife educational exhibits and public information
  • Volunteer projects
  • Coordination of wildlife projects among cooperating organizations

Grants Management

CWF manages single-project funds or acts as fiscal agent to accept, administer and re-grant funds to qualified individuals, businesses and organizations such as:

  • Independent researchers and monitors
  • Designers and developers of educational materials
  • Environmental planners for management plan development
  • Contractors who specialize in habitat restoration projects

Financial Management

CWF efficiently manages funds to be used over a period of time or for a series of projects by:
  • Housing funds in designated accounts
  • Providing quarterly fund reports
  • Investing funds prudently
CWF’s overhead rate is ten percent.

Contracts Management

CWF, in partnership with agencies, advertises projects and accepts statements of qualifications and bid packages. After agency review and selections are completed, CWF contracts with selected organizations and individuals to complete the work described. CWF pays agency-approved invoices and produces timely financial reports for agencies until projects or programs are completed.
